I’ve been helping people with interior and exterior design and construction projects for almost 30 years. I started out doing hardscapes, softscapes, small excavation and drainage projects. Working with dirt and shaping land is satisfying and showed me a sense of accomplishment.
I’ve always been interested in woodworking, having a fascination early on with post and beam construction methods and the trim details of early American Homes. Living on Nantucket has allowed me to work hands on with these early homes on a daily basis, along with being able to see some of the best architectural woodworking on early homes in America.
I’m a particular person. When it comes to a space, either indoors or outdoors, that space always has a function. When I started doing historical renovations, I noticed that a lot of homes didn’t have practical designs and layouts any longer. Some homes I found literally had you working harder just to use some of the features in the home. It was in these instances that made me want to draw and design layouts for residential homes and properties that function, while maximizing the square footage and are comfortable for living while also entertaining others. Building and renovating properties over the years has showed me what works and what just doesn’t. The hard part for me in some renovations is seeing some of these older mistakes and watching them not get corrected.
If you’ve made it this far, hopefully I can help you somehow with your building ideas. Give me a call or send me a message. A lot of beautiful ideas in life have started from a sketch.
